The Banh Mi Grilled Sandwich is a Vietnamese dish that is unlike any other sandwich you’ve probably ever had.  The pickled daikon and carrots with the sprig of cilantro and french mayo is what make this dish unique.  Try this recipe at your next dinner party.

Note:  We recommend that you prepare the Pickle Daikon and Carrots, French Mayo, and Marinaded Meat ahead of time for this recipe.


  • 1 Loaf of french bread
  • 1 sprig of cilantro
  • Slices of jalapenos (optional)
  • Pickled carrot and daikon (see Pickle Daikon & Carrot Recipe)
  • Marinaded meat (see Vietnamese Meat Marinade Recipe)
  • French mayo(see French Mayo Recipe)
  • Soy Sauce
  • Cucumbers


Step 1

Cut the french bread into desired length and split it into two sections.

Step 2

Apply desired amount of french mayo and lightly toast the bread in an oven. Be sure not to burn. Remove from oven.

Step 3

Grill or stirfry the marinaded meat to desired doneness and set aside.

Step 4

Assemble the sandwich using the ingredients described above. Here is the recommended order of assembly: Meat Soy sauce Pickled carrot and daikon cucumber cilantro jalapenos(optional) Enjoy!
